NDMA urges people to follow authorities’ guidance regarding BIPARJOY

Islamabad, June 11, 2023 (PPI-OT): The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has urged the people to stay away from shorelines and follow local authorities’ guidance in any emergency situation. According to the NDMA spokesperson, the tropical Cyclone BIPARJOY is currently located in the Northern Indian Ocean with sustained winds of 150 kilometers per hour.

He said the storm is predicted to strengthen and maintain its intensity for the next 24 hours. As per the report, BIPARJOY cyclone was located approximately 910km from Karachi and 890km south of Thatta while maintaining speed of 150km/h at its center.

Pakistan, Turkiye resolve to enhance bilateral trade to $5b in coming three years: PM

Islamabad, June 11, 2023 (PPI-OT): Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif says Pakistan and Turkiye have resolved to enhance bilateral trade to five billion dollars in coming three years. He stated this in an exclusive interview with Turkish media outlet Haber-Global given during his recent visit to Turkiye. The Prime Minister urged Turkish investors to invest in Pakistan the fields of solar and hydel energy, as Turkiye has huge experience in these fields. He said projects like Diamer-Bhasha dam have a great scope for co-investment.

Shehbaz Sharif assured all possible facilitation to the Turkish businessmen who want to invest in Pakistan. The Prime Minister said the rail-road network in Pakistan, Iran and Turkiye can play an important role in reducing transportation cost on goods to promote trade and economic activities among the three countries. He expressed the desire to make this network modern and more efficient. Shehbaz Sharif said Pakistan can offer skilled and comparatively cheaper labour for Turkish companies and it will be a win-win situation for both countries. He said it will open new opportunities for joint collaboration and joint ventures.

Answering a question, the Prime Minister said Pakistan and Turkiye have a strong strategic partnership and Islamabad has entered into joint venture with Turkish shipbuilding companies. He said a part of this project is being undertaken in Turkiye, while the rest is being built in Karachi Shipyard. The Prime Minister lauded Turkiye for its unconditional support to Pakistan on the issue of Kashmir. He said we are really grateful to President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and the people of Turkiye for supporting the people of Kashmir, who have gone through very difficult times in the face of Indian atrocities.

Shehbaz Sharif said territorial integrity and sovereignty of Turkiye is very important to Pakistan and vice versa. He said the world has to understand the situation in Kashmir and it must play its role in resolving the Kashmir dispute as per the UN Security Council resolutions.

NA Deputy Speaker announces compensation package for victims of rains, storms incidents

Islamabad, June 11, 2023 (PPI-OT): Deputy Speaker National Assembly Zahid Akram Durrani has announced a huge compensation package for the victims of rains and storms incidents. He announced the package during his visit to District Headquarters Hospital, Bannu.

The Deputy Speaker said the compensation package includes one million rupees for heirs of each deceased, three lakh rupees for each injured and 50,000 rupees for minor wounded of the incident. He said Prime Minister have assured all out support and assistance to the rains and storms victims.

He said that forty billion rupees were released for relief and rehabilitation operations of the affected population.

Govt making efforts to re-negotiate with IMF on more favourable terms: Dar

Islamabad, June 11, 2023 (PPI-OT): Finance Minister Muhammad Ishaq Dar says the government is taking necessary measures to re-negotiate with International Monetary Fund on more favourable terms and conditions. Talking to a private news channel, he expressed hope that the IMF would be satisfied with Pakistan’s progress, as the country has fulfilled the necessary requirements. Ishaq Dar expressed optimism that Pakistan would achieve the growth rate set by the government, indicating a positive outlook for the nation’s economic development in the coming year.

The Finance Minister said the federal government has given a massive relief to the salaried class in the new budget by announcing 35 per cent ad-hoc relief allowance for its employees in grade one to 16 and 30 percent for employees in grades 17 to 22. Reply to a question, he criticized the previous government of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf for formulating weak policies. He said these policies caused significant difficulties for masses in their daily lives, leading to financial constraints for the country.

Political stability must for development of country: PM

Islamabad, June 11, 2023 (PPI-OT): Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif says development projects launched during previous tenure of PML-N government are now being completed by the coalition government. Addressing a ceremony in Lahore on Sunday, he said mega power generation projects, including the CPEC projects were initiated by the PML-N government during its previous tenure.

The Prime Minister regretted that the PTI government stopped work on these projects which caused delay in their completion. Terming the next fiscal year’s budget as public friendly, he said despite difficult economic situation, the government increased salaries and pension of its employees.

The Prime Minister stressed on political stability for development and prosperity of the country. He said Pakistan has fulfilled all conditions of International Monetary Fund and hoped that an agreement would be finalized with it during this month. Regarding 9th May incidents, he said all responsible persons of these attacks will be punished.

Sale of Hajj sacrificial animal coupons begins in Makkah

Islamabad, June 11, 2023 (PPI-OT): Mobile vans, operated by Saudi Post and the Islamic Development Bank (IDB) have commenced the sale of Hajj sacrificial animal coupons directly to pilgrims residing in various buildings in Makkah. Javed Iqbal reports from Makkah that a mobile van visited Building Number 711 in, Aziziyah, Makkah Mukaramah today with each coupon priced at 720 Saudi riyals.

Intending pilgrims queued up to buy coupons. The initiative aims to facilitate Pakistani pilgrims who wish to perform their sacrifice with the support of the Pakistani government.
