Islamabad, August 28, 2019 (PPI-OT): Chairman National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) Lieutenant General Muhammad Afzal called on Mr. Faisal Vawda, Federal Minister for Water Resources and updated him over the measures taken to mitigate the effects of monsoon spell. The Chairman highlighted the challenges faced by NDMA towards responding to emergency situations and measures taken to include disaster risk reduction and effective response mechanism. Federal Minister for Water Resources acknowledged the efforts put in by NDMA.
He further elaborated upon the vision of the Prime Minister and said that present government was well cognizant of the threats and challenges posed by the Climate Change and impending disasters. He assured that government is taking all necessary steps to ensure the safety and security of the people of Pakistan towards this end and is further looking forward to strengthening the institutes like NDMA, Federal Flood Commission and Provincial Governments to enhance response mechanism in case of any natural calamity / disaster.
