Children’s Ward-3 inaugurated in Larkana hospital

LARKANA: Vice Chancellor, Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto Medical University (SMBBMU), Professor Dr Nusrat Shah, inaugurated the Children Ward-3 in Children’s Hospital of Chandka Medical College Hospital (CMCH) Larkana on Monday.

The ward has recently been repaired and renovated and no new building has been constructed. The Vice-Chancellor also inquired about the facilities from the patients and the doctors. Prof Shanti Lal, Head of Unit-I and Chairman, Department of Pediatricians, SMBBMU, said on the occasion that Children Hospital is the largest paeds hospital in Northern Sindh as more than 40,000 patients visit the OPD in a month.

He said that they were being provided complete facilities here, apart from giving them free medicines. He said that a lot of patients from Lower Punjab, Balochistan and North Sindh also visit the hospital on a daily basis, which was why the construction of the new ward was very necessary.

VC also visited OPD and Thalassemia Centre, Vice Chancellor Dr. Nusrat Shah said on this occasion that research is my first priority, we have to come forward in the field of research. She said that doctors and paramedic staff always fight jihad like first line soldiers, you have to work above all criticism and praise.

Dr. Gulzar Tunio, Medical Superintendent said that CMCH is catering to the needs of many districts apart from Balochistan and lower part of Punjab. He said the hospital is working smoothly but it needs replacement of outdated machinery and equipment which will ensure its further improvement. He said flow of poverty-ridden patients is constantly rising for which CMCH badly needs proper medical aid to enhance its service delivery.
