Citizens demand easy payment of utility bills in Naundero

NAUNDERO: Post Office, Naundero, has become useless for the residents as it has failed to accept telephone, electricity bills and international parcels.

It was learnt here on Tuesday when a subscriber visited the office to deposit a telephone bill and an international parcel bound for the UK. The man who was sitting on the chair said that they do not have a computer and PTCL broadband internet facility to accept online bills such as PTCL telephone bills costing each subscriber over Rs3360 and provisional SEPCO electricity bills which are paid online.

He said that they are accepting SSGC gas bills, ordinary and registered letters, local parcels etc. He said previously they used to collect telephone bills but ever since the National Bank, Naundero branch, has refused to accept their cash payment they have also stopped getting bills because they cannot take the cash to Larkana daily due to fear of getting robbed on Larkana-Naundero Road for fear of worsening law and order situation causing huge trouble to the consumers and residents.

Assad Jamal said that recently he went to the Post Office to register a parcel for London which was flatly denied as they said that EMS facility is unavailable with them and I was asked to go to GPO Larkana which caused him huge harassment.

There are over 350 PTCL subscribers who have to stand in a long row at a tiny place of NBP to pay their monthly bills and hundreds of electricity consumers who are overcharged in the name of detection have also to suffer for the fault of the power distribution company. The SEPCO consumers are suffering as they have to get their monthly bills corrected each month and then payment is made at NBP which are unaccepted by Post Office authorities which also causes a terrible situation for the consumers. No private bank accepts such consumer bills which too has created a very bad situation.

Former MRD Convenor Hussain Bux Narejo, Sindh Graduates Association’s Abdul Latif Kertio, Shehri Action Committee Chief Ghulam Hyder Narejo, Choith Ram and others have complained that in this digital era such facilities should be available at all places enabling the consumers to clear their monthly utility services payments without any trouble but the hometown of Bhutto leaders have been lacking which is astonishing and proves that rulers have done nothing for the public which they should have done long ago. They have demanded the establishment of institutions to accept payments of all services bills specially Post Office so that citizens should not suffer for negligence of others.
