Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah inaugurated the Centre for Autism Rehabilitation and Training (C-ART) Sindh’s Sukkur unit, marking a significant step in the provincial government’s broader plan to establish a comprehensive network of autism care centres across Sindh.
According to a statement issued by Sindh CM House today, speaking at the event, CM Shah highlighted that the Sukkur unit is the latest addition to the growing network of C-ART facilities, which began in 2018 with the flagship centre in Karachi. “Our vision is clear to ensure that families across Sindh, regardless of their location, have access to quality care and support for their children with autism,” he said.
The chief minister further noted that the Sukkur unit would cater to the northern region of Sindh, providing essential services such as early intervention, skill development, and education, which have already benefited hundreds of families through existing centres in Karachi, Hyderabad, and Gambat. “We are committed to expanding our reach to under-served areas, ensuring that high-quality services are accessible to all,” he added.
CM Shah commended the efforts of the C-ART team, which has worked tirelessly to provide comprehensive support to individuals with autism, allowing them to realise their full potential. He also reiterated the government’s commitment to inclusivity and accessibility, emphasising that the mission was to create a society where every individual, irrespective of their abilities, could thrive.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by Speaker of the Sindh Assembly Syed Awais Qadir Shah, Minister of Planning and Development Syed Nasir Shah, Minister of Excise and Taxation Mukesh Chawla, and several other notable officials. Following the ceremony, the chief minister toured the facility and interacted with the children of the centre, who welcomed him with a performance of the national anthem and a song.
Secretary of the Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (DEPD) Tauha Farooqui briefed the Chief Minister on the operations of the Sukkur unit, which is equipped with modern resources and staffed by trained professionals specialising in autism care.
With the establishment of the Sukkur unit, the Sindh government continues to strengthen its commitment to creating an inclusive society. Future expansions of the C-ART network are set to target under-served areas, providing consistent, high-quality autism care throughout the province.
In his closing remarks, CM Shah reaffirmed the government’s pledge to promote awareness, inclusivity, and accessibility for individuals with autism, reaffirming that these efforts are crucial to building a more equitable society for all.
