COVID-19 claims 24 more patients, infects 1,423 others

Karachi, August 26, 2021 (PPI-OT):As many as 24 more patients of Coronavirus died overnight lifting the death toll to 6,766 and 1,423 new cases emerged when 20,553 tests were conducted. This was stated by Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah in a statement issued here on Thursday. He added that 24 more patients of COVID-19 lost their lives lifting the death toll to 6,766 that constituted 1.6 percent death rate. Mr. Shah said that 20,553 samples were tested which detected 1,423 cases that constituted 7 percent current detection rate.

He added that so far 5,469,953 tests have been conducted against which 426,899 cases were diagnosed, of them 86.7 percent or 370,271 patients have recovered, including 632 overnight. The CM said that currently 49,862 patients were under treatment, of them 48,737 were in home isolation, 34 at isolation centres and 1,091 at different hospitals. He added that the condition of 1,091 patients was stated to be critical, including 75 shifted to ventilators.

According to the statement, out of 1,423 new cases, 701 have been detected from Karachi, including 229 from East, 182 Central, 128 South, 73 Korangi, 55 Malir and 34 West. Hyderabad has 157, Thatta 74, Sanghar 43, Badin 40, Tharparkar 33, Kashmore 32, Matiari 30, Ghotki 29, Shaheed Benazirabad 28, Khairpur 25, Sujawal and Qamber 21 each, Tando Allahyar 20, Mirpurkhas 19, Sukkur and Naushero Feroze 18 each, Tando Muhammad Khan 17, Dadu 16, Umerkot 15, Shikarpur 14, Larkana seven, Jacobabad six, Jamshoro three.

Sharing vaccination data the CM said that 10,498,623 vaccinations have been administered upto August 24 and added during the last 24 hours 166,285 vaccines were inoculated – in total 10,664,908 vaccines have administered which constituted 30.73 percent of the vaccine eligible population. Murad Ali Shah urged people to abide by the SOPs issued by the government.
