COVID-19 claims 29 more patients, infects 1,188 others 

Karachi, August 14, 2021 (PPI-OT):As many as 29 more patients of Coronavirus died overnight lifting the death toll to 6,413 and 1,188 new cases emerged when 15,288 tests were conducted. This was stated by Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah in a statement issued here on Saturday. He added that 29 more patients of COVID-19 lost their lives lifting the death toll to 6,413 that constituted 1.6 percent death rate. Mr. Shah said that 15,288 samples were tested which detected 1,188 cases that constituted 7.8 percent current detection rate.

He added that so far 5,265,730 tests have been conducted against which 410,749 cases were diagnosed, of them 87 percent or 357,635 patients have recovered, including 1,107 overnight. The CM said that currently 46,701 patients were under treatment, of them 45,202 were in home isolation, 37 at isolation centres and 1,410 at different hospitals. He added that the condition of 1244 patients was stated to be critical, including 101 shifted to ventilators.

According to the statement, out of 1,188 new cases, 632 have been detected from Karachi, including 203 from East, 115 South, 103 Central, 98 Malir, 85 Korangi and 28 West. Hyderabad has 122, Naushero Feroze 50, Thatta 42, Badin 40, Jamshoro 34, Tharparkar 31, Sujawal 29, Mirpurkhas 28, Sanghar 27, Umerkot 22, Shaheed Benazirabad 21, Tando Allahyar 16, Dadu 14, Tando Muhammad Khan 12, Ghotki nine, Matiari eight, Sukkur six, Kashmore five, Jacobabad, Khairpur and Shikarpur one each.

Sharing vaccination data the CM said that 8,771,227 vaccinations have been administered upto August 12, and added during the last 24 hours 166,957 vaccines were inoculated – in total 9,127,506 vaccines have administered which constituted 26.81 percent of the vaccine eligible population. Murad Ali Shah urged people to abide by the SOPs issued by the government.
