Crackdown against drugs in Punjab, 77 arrested, illegal items seized

According to a press release issued today by the Punjab Police, in a large-scale crackdown against drugs and crime, 77 individuals have been arrested for their involvement in drug smuggling, and the police have seized a large quantity of illegal items.

The police conducted 432 search operations, during which 13,692 individuals were questioned, resulting in the detention of 41 suspects. These measures demonstrate the commitment to maintaining law and order in the province.

In addition to drug cases, law enforcement agencies also targeted electricity theft, which is a significant financial loss to the national exchequer. As a result, 39 individuals were arrested, and 83 cases were registered. These efforts reflect the government’s resolve against economic crimes.

The police also cracked down on the dangerous practice of kite flying, which has led to numerous accidents. Two individuals were arrested, and 135 kites were confiscated to prevent further incidents.

During the crackdown on traffic violations, 32,990 tickets were issued, imposing fines amounting to 23 million rupees. Furthermore, 50 vehicles emitting excessive smoke were impounded, and 23,408 driving licenses were issued, demonstrating a comprehensive strategy for traffic management.
