Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar, on Friday conveyed his contentment with the country”s sugar supply and declining retail prices, while simultaneously issuing a directive to safeguard fair compensation for sugarcane growers.
The instruction was delivered during a high-level session in the capital, which the senator chaired specifically to review the existing stock position and pricing structure of the essential commodity.
During the proceedings, Senator Dar expressed his satisfaction regarding the ample availability of sugar and took positive note of the downward trend observed in its market cost.
He mandated that all relevant authorities must ensure that farmers receive an equitable price for their sugarcane produce.
The gathering was attended by the Minister for National Food Security, who participated remotely, along with the Special Assistant to the Prime Minister, Tariq Bajwa, and other senior officers from the concerned governmental departments.
