The District Coordination Committee Khairpur, chaired by Deputy Commissioner Fayaz Hussain Rahujo, on Friday reviewed a wide range of security, administrative, and welfare issues, with a particular focus on enhancing coordination among departments for the effective implementation of the National Action Plan and crackdowns on illegal activities.
Key directives issued during the meeting included improved intelligence sharing on individuals residing illegally in the district, decisive action against the smuggling and sale of unauthorized petrol, and a coordinated crackdown on illegal fancy number plates and non-custom paid vehicles. The Deputy Commissioner directed the police and Excise Department to intensify enforcement in these areas.
The absence of the Assistant Director of the Anti-Narcotics Department prompted the issuance of a show-cause notice, while authorities were also instructed to act against the smuggling of goods and unauthorized transportation of agricultural medicines.
Emphasizing social protection measures, the Deputy Commissioner ordered steps for enforcing child labor laws and instructed relevant departments to hold seminars to raise awareness. As part of the district’s Contingency Plan, departments were also tasked with implementing measures to safeguard women’s rights.
The meeting also assessed the prevalence of illegal electricity connections, unauthorized transportation of dates, registration of senior citizens, and the performance of social welfare organizations operating at the district level.
Additional Deputy Commissioner Muhammad Iqbal Jandran, Assistant Commissioners, police officers, and representatives from SEPCO, Local Government, Social Welfare, Child Labor, Food, and other departments were present at the meeting.
