A large delegation from the National Defence University (NDU) met with Chief Justice of Pakistan Yahya Afridi at the Supreme Court on Wednesday, sparking discussions about the judiciary’s function in upholding fundamental rights and ensuring access to justice. The group, numbering over 120 participants of the National Security and War Course 2026, was headed by Maj. Gen. Naeem Akhtar, the institution’s Chief Instructor.

The assembly included educators, officers from Pakistan’s armed and civil services, and 26 representatives from allied nations. Chief Justice Afridi explained the constitutional division of powers and the court system’s part in safeguarding basic rights. A question-and-answer period followed the briefing, fostering dialogue between the judicial head and the visiting group.

The NDU delegation also explored the Supreme Court Museum, expressing particular interest in the judicial archives. The meeting concluded with an exchange of mementos between the Chief Justice and Maj. Gen. Akhtar.
