The public movement demanding the completion of the Tehsil Hospital and an end to the shortage of staff and medicines entered its 98th consecutive day on Saturday, with protesters condemning the health department and local representatives for their inattention to the prolonged protest.
The latest demonstration, organized by the Sajag Shehri Ittehad, was held in Kalhora Mugheri village of UC Dera. Led by the alliance’s president, Comrade Muhammad Rafi Laghari, and other senior members, a large number of villagers participated in a short march and a subsequent sit-in, chanting slogans in favor of their demands.
Addressing the participants, the movement’s leaders stressed that healthcare is a fundamental human right. They said that hundreds of thousands of people in Nasirabad Tehsil are being deprived of this right due to the stalled hospital project.
The alliance has announced its intention to intensify its campaign and has confirmed that a protest motorcycle rally will be held after the movement completes 100 days, aimed at pressuring for the hospital’s early completion.
