Demo held against depriving locals in Reko Diq Gold project

NUKUNDI: Rekodiq project is in Nokkundi but doors of employment in Reko Diq Copper and Gold Project have been shut for the local residents of Nokkundi by Barrick Gold Corporation.

These views were expressed by speakers while addressing a protest demonstration held at London Road in Nukkundi against the Barrick Gold Corporation. Demanding from the authorities to demonstrate flexibility in its policies, they said that candidates from other provinces were being appointed against vacant positions in Reko Diq Copper and Gold Project, ignoring local residents for employment against vacant slots in the project.

They said if the people of Nukkundi were pushed towards wall, strong protest movement would be launched by observing protest sit-in on national highway of Nukkundi.

The protest demonstration was addressed by President, Anjuman Tajiran, Nukkundi, Wahid Bakhsh Shairzai, Altaf Sanjrani, Sardarzada Zulfiqar Shairzai, Sardarzada Waheed Ejwari, Jahangir Baloch, Muhammad Jan Muhib, Iftikhar Badozai, Ahmed Ali Burhanzai, S. Azam Baloch and others.

Earlier, a protest rally under the auspices of Tehreek-e-Ittehad Nukkundi and Anjuman-e-Tajiran, Nukkundi was taken out from Nukkundi city. Participants of rally marched through different roads and reached London Road, Nukkundi where a protest demonstration was held. Moreover, complete shutter down strike was observed in Nukkundi against Barrick Gold Corporation of Rekodiq Copper and Gold Project.
