Demo held against water scarcity in Mirpur Sakro

Landlords, farmers and citizens today blocked the Mirpur Sakro road in protest against the non-availability of irrigation water for the last six months.

They also staged a sit-in on the road and raised slogans against the irrigation water authorities for not providing them water despite their repeated protests.

Speaking on the occasion, the protesting leaders said that for the last six months, water is not being supplied to the small and big tributaries of Mirpur Sakro taluka as a result, their standing crops had been destroyed while the animals were also facing water thirst.

They demanded of the authorities to provide water in the tributaries immediately to save their agriculture crops so that they could remain safe from the imminent poverty.

“Agriculture is the only source of livelihood and employment of the people here, which is being destroyed by causing acute water scarcity,” they stated.
