The vigilance team formed by DIG Sukkur Captain (R) Faisal Abdullah Chachar has conducted a major operation in Khairpur district, freeing two youth who were allegedly kept in illegal custody by a police officer.

According to the officials, the incident involved the in-charge of Thari outpost under Baberlo Police Station, who had reportedly held two innocent young men in unlawful detention at an undisclosed location for four days.

On receiving a complaint from the victims’ families, the DIG Sukkur directed the vigilance team to take immediate action. On Friday, the team conducted a swift operation and secured the release of the detained individuals, identified as Rahib Sheikh and Mujeeb Sheikh.

Evidence revealed that ASI Abdul Hussain Sehto, the outpost in-charge, had demanded Rs. 70,000 in bribe from the families in exchange for the release of the detainees.

Following a full report of the incident submitted by the vigilance team, DIG Sukkur suspended ASI Abdul Hussain Sehto and ordered his immediate transfer to the Range Office. He also directed the DSP Complaint Cell, Range Office Sukkur, to initiate a departmental inquiry into the matter.
