ECB Appoints Harry Brook As New White-Ball Skipper To Replace Jos Buttler

The ECB has announced that harry brook will succeed Jos Buttler as England’s new men’s white-ball captain.

The 26-year-old, who has been a key figure in England’s batting lineup since 2022, takes over after Buttler’s resignation following a disappointing 2025 ICC Champions Trophy campaign. Brook, currently ranked second in the ICC men’s test batting rankings, has served as vice-captain in both ODIs and T20is for the past year.

He made his captaincy debut against Australia in September 2024, receiving praise for his tactical acumen and calm leadership. Brook previously captained England U19s in the 2018 ICC men’s U19 World Cup.

Buttler’s tenure, which began with England’s T20 World Cup victory in 2022, ended following a string of poor performances, including a lackluster 2023 ICC men’s cricket world cup and a failed title defense at the 2024 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup.
