Egypt and Pakistan Explore New Maritime Trade Opportunities


Islamabad: The Ambassador of Egypt, Dr. Ehab Mohamed Abdel Hameed Hassan, met with Pakistan’s Federal Minister for Maritime Affairs, Qaiser Ahmed Sheikh, to discuss enhancing maritime trade and strengthening bilateral relations. The meeting, held at the minister’s office, emphasized leveraging historical and cultural ties to boost cooperation in sectors with potential for economic growth.



According to a statement by Press Information Department, the discussions highlighted the importance of maritime affairs in regional and global trade. Both sides recognized the strategic positions of their countries and identified new investment avenues in the maritime sector. Ambassador Hassan shared Egypt’s expertise in managing maritime infrastructure, underscoring the Suez Canal’s significance, and offered support to Pakistan in developing its maritime capabilities.



Federal Minister Sheikh expressed appreciation for Egypt’s collaborative spirit and outlined Pakistan’s goals for modernizing ports and enhancing maritime trade. He emphasized creating investment opportunities in the blue economy. Deputy Chief of Mission, Sameh Ahmed El-Ghomrawi, and Secretary of Maritime Affairs, Syed Zafar Ali Shah, also attended the meeting, reinforcing the commitment to mutual cooperation.



The parties agreed to explore further collaborations and stressed the need for regular consultations to achieve shared objectives in trade and maritime development.
