A proclaimed offender involved in dozens of serious incidents was arrested in an injured condition after a police encounter on Sunday in the area of 37/38-4L, allegedly hit by the firing of his own fleeing accomplices.

The incident began when three armed assailants snatched a motorcycle and cash from a citizen named Siddique. Upon receiving the information, SHO Zafar Mahar of Shahbore police station initiated immediate action.

Upon encountering the law enforcement personnel, the suspects started indiscriminate firing. The police returned fire in self-defense. During the exchange of fire, one suspect, later identified as Jafar, was injured by a bullet from his own accomplices.

While Jafar was injured by his companions’ firing, his two accomplices managed to escape from the scene. The authorities have launched a search operation to find and arrest the remaining fugitive suspects.

The arrested suspect, Jafar, has a long criminal record and is involved in 31 serious cases, including murder, attempted murder, and robbery. The snatched motorcycle, cash, and a weapon were recovered from his possession at the time of arrest.

The injured dacoit has been shifted to a nearby hospital for medical treatment under police custody.
