National Highway in Usta Muhammad was blocked by protesters against non-provision of water to the agriculturists from Kirthar canal, causing long queues of vehicles moving on both sides of the highway.
The highway was blocked by the residents and zamindars of Usta Muhammad against the non-provision of water from Kirthar canal. The protesters burnt tyres on the highway, causing long queues of vehicles.
The protesters alleged that Executive Engineer, Irrigation Department, Usta Muhammad, was selling water to the influential persons of area, depriving common citizens and agriculturist of the water from Kirthar canal.
They said that the issue had been brought into the notice of higher authority of Irrigation Department and concerned authorities of district administration, but no action had been taken.
They called on Chief Minister Balochistan, Chief Justice Balochistan High Court, Chief Secretary Balochistan and other authorities to take notice of the issue and direct the Executive Engineer to ensure provision of water to growers of Usta Muhammad, so that green belt could be saved from becoming barren.
