RATODERO: Father of a HIV positive child held a protest demonstration at Ratodero press club here on Monday against non-provision of treatment drugs and non-receipt of endowment funds benefits.
Resident of Subhani Shar village, Shahzado Shar alleged that his five year old son is infected with HIV since long adding when we go to HIV Treatment Support Centre here the doctors always prescribe medicines which are not available at the centre but only to be procured by us from the open market which a poor man like him cannot afford in this massive inflation era.
He said there are no kits for CD4 test at the centre and no funds have been received by them which shows that nobody is inquiring from the relevant authorities as to why the HIV infected children have been left at the mercy of their Creator and not provided proper treatment as per international standards.
He claimed that as many as 32 HIV positive cases exist in their village alone who are neither given medicines nor endowment funds benefits. He said the incharge of the centre is always told to be in meetings and she never meets anyone.
He urged the Sindh Minister for Health and Population Welfare Department to take immediate notice of the issues confronted by the poor HIV children and adults and order a thorough probe into the allegations and provide relief to the poverty-ridden positive people.
