LARKANA: Fire suddenly erupted at Thariri Din Muhammad Narejo village located within the limits of Dhamrah police station near here on Saturday which engulfed almost entire village within few moments as rapid winds were blowing in the area burning houses of over 25 villagers including Ali Akbar Narejo, Mir Hassan Narejo, Salim Narejo, Muhammad Nawaz Narejo and others. Food grains of the villagers, fodder and other valuables were burnt to ashes but precious human lives remained safe.
People were only able to save themselves and their children. Ali Asghar Narejo, Abdul Jabbar Narejo and others told PPI that only one fire brigade of Naundero reached the spot despite repeated calls to the administration which after extinguishing the fire went back to carry water and returned after two hour hence they had to extinguish the fire on a self-help basis.
They said that residents of the village are now sitting under open sky and no official of the district administration has so far reached the village to take care of them and assess the damage. After media reports, more fire tenders along with an ambulance and a team of doctors reached the site and extinguished the fire, however, loss of human lives was not reported.
In another incident, an aged man Nizamuddin Langah was burnt when fire broke out in Nangar Sangi village near Thoof Chausul. He was rushed to the Burns Ward of the Chandka Medical College Hospital for treatment and further management. Villagers told reporters that their three houses were burnt in the fire which erupted suddenly along with wheat and rice, fans, valuables including golden ornaments and cash. They said nothing could be saved except their clothes which they are wearing. They demanded compensation.
