Grand Democratic Alliance General Secretary Safdar Abbasi alleged on Thursday that the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) was involved in the plan to draw six canals from the Indus River in Punjab and was trying to make Sindh barren, which would not only destroy the province’s agriculture but also reduce water supply to urban areas.

Addressing a press conference with leaders of other parties at Raja House in Mirpurkhas, he said that an awareness march would start on January 11, so the people of Sindh must join it to raise voice against this anti-Sindh plan, which would increase discord among the provinces.

Abbasi said that due to political instability in Pakistan, the country had become completely paralyzed, as the rulers were adding more burdens on the public by taking loans.

In response to a question, he said that after the 26th constitutional amendment, the country system had become completely dysfunctional as the judiciary had weakened, while the rulers had divided the judiciary to prolong their rule. “If this system continues, only God can save the country,” he concluded.

Other leaders of the Grand Democratic Alliance were also present with him.
