Governor Declares University of Sargodha a ‘Model’ for Public Sector Institutions

Punjab Governor Sardar Saleem Haider Khan today described the University of Sargodha (UoS) as a benchmark for other public sector institutions to emulate, commending its significant progress during the university”s 12th Convocation. The ceremony marked a major academic milestone with the conferral of 18,369 degrees.

In his address to the convocation, the governor, who also serves as the university”s Chancellor, expressed his satisfaction with the institution’s advancements under the leadership of Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Qaisar Abbas. He praised the university’s strategic vision and academic achievements, attributing its success to the dedication of the Vice Chancellor and his team.

Governor Khan underscored the critical role of strong institutions in national development and called for collective efforts to strengthen them, reaffirming that service to the country must be a shared priority for all.

During the event, a total of 105 PhD, 696 MS/MPhil/LLM, 1,911 MA/MSc, 6,712 BS/BBA, and 8,945 BA/BSc degrees were awarded to students. The graduates represented eight distinct faculties, including Agriculture, Arts and Humanities, Computing and Information Technology, Engineering and Technology, Medical and Allied Health Sciences, Pharmacy, Sciences, and Social Sciences.

Earlier, Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Qaisar Abbas presented a report to the Chancellor detailing the university’s recent achievements. He highlighted notable improvements in international rankings, research output, and academic distinction.

Prof. Abbas reiterated the institution”s commitment to producing highly skilled graduates prepared to meet the demands of the national and international workforce, emphasising ongoing initiatives to enhance quality education and innovation.

The convocation began with a formal academic procession, which included the Chancellor, Vice Chancellor, Pro Vice Chancellor, Registrar, Controller of Examinations, and the Deans and Heads of various departments. The proceedings concluded in a celebratory atmosphere as graduates commemorated their achievements with family and faculty members.
