Governor Sindh Syed Muhammad Nehal Hashmi met with the Consul General of Sri Lanka, Sanieewa Pattiwila, at the Governor House today. The meeting focused on Pakistan-Sri Lanka bilateral relations, trade, investment, tourism, and enhancing cooperation in various sectors.
Speaking on the occasion, the governor Sindh said that the historic, friendly, and brotherly relations between Pakistan and Sri Lanka are based on mutual trust and cooperation and should be further strengthened. He noted that Sindh offers vast opportunities for investment, trade, tourism, and joint ventures, encouraging Sri Lankan investors to benefit from the province’s economic potential.
He said there was significant potential to further increase bilateral trade between Pakistan and Sri Lanka. He emphasized that expanding Pakistan’s exports to Sri Lanka would play an important role in strengthening economic ties between the two countries.
He informed that textiles, rice, pharmaceuticals, sports goods, and agricultural products were among Pakistan’s major exports to Sri Lanka, and that high-quality Pakistani products have the potential to gain a larger share of the Sri Lankan market.
During the meeting, both sides agreed to further promote cooperation in trade, investment, tourism, and other sectors, strengthen links between the business communities of both countries, and expand bilateral relations.
