Governor Sindh, Syed Muhammad Nihal Hashmi, today proposed a strategic alliance between the Citizens-Police Liaison Committee (CPLC) and the Prime Minister’s Youth Program to enhance the skills and capabilities of Pakistan’s youth. Declaring the youth as the nation’s most valuable asset, he emphasized the need to empower them so they can play a significant role in national development.
Upon Governor Hashmi’s arrival at the CPLC headquarters, the organization’s head Zubair Habib and district deputy chiefs warmly welcomed him and presented a bouquet of flowers. During his visit, the governor toured various departments and received a comprehensive briefing on CPLC’s performance, achievements, and modern systems.
CPLC head Zubair Habib informed the governor about the organization’s extensive database of stolen and recovered vehicles, the largest in the country. He highlighted CPLC’s collaboration with the Anti-Vehicle Lifting Cell (AVLC) and other law enforcement agencies, which plays a crucial role in preventing crimes related to vehicle and mobile phone thefts.
During the briefing, CPLC’s identification program was also highlighted, which assists in identifying unidentified bodies. The organization’s call center processes seven to eight thousand calls daily, addressing various complaints and public issues.
Established in 1989 under the guidance of the late Fakhruddin G. Ebrahim, CPLC became an essential part of the Police Act in 2019. Currently, it has 135 active members and operates offices in multiple districts, including Karachi, Hyderabad, Jamshoro, Shaheed Benazirabad, and Mirpurkhas. Additional desks are active in Sukkur, and there are plans for expansion in Larkana.
Governor Hashmi praised CPLC’s significant role in public safety, crime prevention, and missing persons identification. He commended the institution’s effective use of modern technology and commitment to public service and noted that it serves as an example for other organizations. The governor expressed hope that CPLC would continue its commendable work by leveraging its expertise and commitment to community service.
