Pakistan’s national youth netball team returned home triumphantly after winning the Asian Youth Netball Championship 2025 in Korea. The players were given a grand welcome at the Karachi airport.
Newly elected President of the Pakistan Bodybuilding Federation and Central Secretary General of Pakistan Muslim League (Q) Muhammad Tariq Hassan, President of Pakistan Netball Federation (PNF) Malik Muhammad Sami, other dignitaries, and relatives of the players welcomed the team. They were garlanded with flowers, and slogans of “Pakistan Zindabad” were raised. Hassan and Sami lauded the team’s achievement and termed it a matter of pride for the country. They praised the players, manager, coach, and support staff.
The twelve-member squad, including players like Pareesa Abbas, Amani Fawad Ghareeb, and Elena Maya Ghareeb, competed at the Jeonju Hwasan Gymnasium in Jeonju, Korea, from June 27 to July 4, 2025. Mudassar Razaq served as the team’s manager, Amanda Arleen as head coach, Haroona Bariyo Zaman as assistant manager/coach, and Irfan Sadia Hussain as primary care provider. Eleven countries participated in the championship, divided into two groups. Group A comprised Malaysia, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Hong Kong, and India, while Group B included Chinese Taipei, Japan, Korea, Pakistan, Maldives, and Saudi Arabia. Pakistan played five league matches in Group B against Saudi Arabia, Chinese Taipei, Korea, Japan, and Maldives.
The arrival ceremony was kept simple out of respect for Ashura. A grand celebration will be organized soon to acknowledge the team’s accomplishment.
