Growers protest against water shortage

Larkana:The poor growers of village Islam Chachar, located near Larkana, held a protest demonstration at Jinnah Bagh here on Thursday against acute water shortage in Gokal Wah coming out of Rice Canal.

The protesters Muhammad Saleh, Abid Ali, Fahim, Sadiq Chachar and others complained to newsmen that Gokal Wah was almost dry since last month due to which water had not reached their lands and paddy saplings had not yet been sown on over 300 acres of fertile land due to which their seedlings were burning.

They said they had been making complaints to the irrigation department officials but they had closed their eyes and no response had been received. They said they were very poor and could not afford huge losses of millions of rupees, adding how their families will remain alive without major rice crops which they stored for a yearlong consumption.

They appealed to Bilawal Bhutto Zardari and Syed Murad Ali Shah to come to their rescue and save their lives by providing required water for irrigation purposes or else they added they will continue to protest for their right.
