Emerging cricket talents Hasan Nawaz and Muhammad Haris have shattered records for Pakistan in T20 Internationals, setting the fastest and second-fastest centuries respectively, showcasing their remarkable batting skills.
During a match against New Zealand at Eden Park in Auckland, Hasan Nawaz delivered a groundbreaking performance, reaching a century in just 44 balls in only his third international match on March 21. Following closely, Muhammad Haris achieved his century in 45 balls against Bangladesh in Lahore on June 1, concluding the series with a powerful statement.
Their dynamic partnership yielded 74 runs in under six overs, breaking Pakistan’s previous powerplay record against England. The pair’s collective effort contributed to 300 runs from 150 balls, key to securing a series victory against Bangladesh. Hasan accumulated 227 runs from 118 balls, while Haris maintained a strike rate of 152, with 370 runs over 17 matches, hitting 33 fours and 21 sixes.
Haris made his T20 International debut memorable with a six against England’s Richard Gleeson in 2022 and recently excelled again at Gaddafi Stadium, earning the Player of the Series award for his 179 runs in the series against Bangladesh.
Born in Peshawar, Haris has proven his mettle under pressure, notably with a pivotal innings against South Africa during the 2022 ICC T20 World Cup. His domestic success with Allied Bank Stallions and in the HBL PSL X season underlines his growing reputation.
Conversely, Hasan Nawaz’s domestic feats in the 2024-25 season led to his HBL PSL return and national team selection. His performances in the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy and with Nurpur Lions in the T20 Cup highlighted his capabilities. His stellar HBL PSL X season with Quetta Gladiators, where he scored 399 runs, earned him top tournament honors.
The Pakistan Cricket Board’s initiatives, like the Pakistan Strike Force Camp, have been instrumental in developing talents such as Hasan, equipping him with skills essential for international success.
The achievements of Hasan Nawaz and Muhammad Haris underscore their potential and promise a prosperous future for Pakistan cricket on the global stage.
