Twenty-six of the nation’s most promising young cricketers are set to converge in Multan for a high-stakes training program, with coveted spots in the Pakistan U19 squads for the upcoming ACC Men’s U19 Asia Cup and ICC U19 World Cup on the line, a Pakistan Cricket Board report said today.
The intensive session, commencing this Friday, 24 October, at the Inzamam-ul-Haq High Performance Centre, is a critical step for selectors to finalize the national junior teams. The schedules for both prestigious international tournaments will be announced in due course.
The participants were invited based on their standout performances in the National U19 Cup, a nationwide tournament held from 21 September to 16 October. Under the supervision of academy coaches, the hopefuls will engage in rigorous skills and fitness drills and participate in scenario-based matches to further hone their abilities.
This gathering is the culmination of a broader talent identification process that began in June with a U19 Skills Assessment Camp in Multan. That initial event featured over 70 aspiring cricketers, who later competed in the National U19 Cup, creating a structured pathway to national consideration.
The 26-member contingent represents a balanced mix of specializations, comprising six batters, five all-rounders, six spinners, and six fast bowlers. The group is rounded out by three wicketkeeper-batters, providing selectors with a diverse pool of talent to evaluate for the final squads.
