In another incident of honour killing, a woman was shot dead by her husband within the jurisdiction of Hamayoom police station near Shikarpur on Wednesday.

According to the local police, the victim, identified as 27-year-old woman Khanzadi was allegedly killed by her husband, Zameer Marfani, on the pretext of karo-kari, a notorious tradition of honour killing.

After committing the crime, the accused reportedly fled the scene. Upon receiving the information, police officials from Hamayoom police station arrived at the location, took the woman’s body into custody, and transported it to the Government Hospital Sultankot for medico-legal formalities.

The police stated that the murder was believed to be motivated by accusations of karo-kari. An FIR will be registered against the suspect on behalf of the state if the victim’s family does not approach the police.

The investigation into the incident is ongoing, and as of the time of reporting, no FIR was registered, nor accused could be arrested.
