The Human Rights Commission of Pakistan (HRCP) on Wednesday visited Liaquat University Hospital Hyderabad. The HRCP delegation was led by Hyderabad Coordinator Ghufrana Arain, who met with Medical Superintendent Dr. Ali Akbar Dahri to assess the hospital’s preparedness and response to the epidemic.

Dr. Dahri briefed the delegation on the establishment of a dedicated ward for dengue patients, which was done in view of the increasing number of patients. Despite a shortage of medical staff, the hospital is striving to maintain service delivery through alternative arrangements. The superintendent expressed concerns about a potential increase in cases next year, emphasizing the need for joint preventive strategies.

During the visit, the HRCP team, including members Saleem Jarwar, Imdad Chandio, and Tanveer Arain, gave recommendations for improving patient care and facilities. After visiting the dengue ward, they expressed satisfaction with the hospital’s current efforts but stressed the importance of further improvements to effectively address patient issues.

The delegation’s visit highlighted the critical need for sustained attention and resources to combat the dengue threat, and urged the hospital administration and relevant authorities to intensify efforts to manage and mitigate the situation.
