International – Pakistan Condemns Sudan Atrocities, Warns of Potential War Crimes

Pakistan has vehemently condemned the atrocities committed by the Rapid Support Forces in Sudan, cautioning that deliberate attacks against civilians and humanitarian personnel are unacceptable and could constitute war crimes.

Speaking at a UN Security Council meeting concerning the situation in the country, Deputy Permanent Representative of Pakistan Usman Jadoon asserted that there can be no military solution to the ongoing conflict. He emphasised that meaningful dialogue remains the only viable path forward, says a report today.

The Pakistani representative specifically highlighted the violent acts in the Darfur region, including in El Fasher and earlier in El Geneina, as well as the continued violence now unfolding in Kordofan.

In his remarks, Mr Jadoon also expressed his country’s backing for the peace plan presented by the transitional Sudanese government. He further welcomed the African Union Peace and Security Council”s Communiqué of 12 February.

Concluding his statement, the diplomat reaffirmed Pakistan”s commitment to collaborating with all international partners to help achieve a unified, sovereign, and stable Sudan.
