The Shia Ulema Council Pakistan has demanded a new approach involving all stakeholders for the resolution of the Kashmir issue, while also expressing deep sorrow over the recent martyrdoms of security personnel and civilians in Balochistan.
Addressing a meeting of the organization’s Sindh chapter on Wednesday, provincial president Allama Syed Asad Iqbal Zaidi condemned India’s continuous aggressive actions and the ongoing state oppression against the Kashmiri people.
On the occasion of Kashmir Solidarity Day, the provincial leader highlighted the long struggle for freedom in the region, stating that the Kashmiri people have made immense sacrifices over many years. He stressed that despite enduring various forms of oppression, their voices for freedom are still strong.
Allama Zaidi quoted a statement from the council’s national leader, Allama Syed Sajid Ali Naqvi, who has advocated for the introduction of a viable solution to the conflict. This proposed framework would be prepared after consultation with all stakeholders, including the Kashmiri leadership and various segments of society.
The meeting also discussed internal challenges, with Allama Zaidi stating that Pakistan has long been grappling with terrorism, extremism, and insurgency. In this context, deep sorrow was expressed over the recent security situation in Balochistan and the loss of life among both security forces and the civilian population.
