Pakistan and Iran have declared a united front against all forms of state-sponsored terrorism, with Tehran extending its profound gratitude for Islamabad’s principled support during the recent Iran-Israel conflict. The strong affirmations came during a high-level meeting on Friday between Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif and the visiting Speaker of the Iranian Parliament, Dr. Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf.

Welcoming the Iranian parliamentary delegation, Prime Minister Sharif underscored the deep-rooted and amicable relations between the two brotherly Muslim countries. He emphasized that dialogue and diplomacy are vital instruments for resolving disputes and fostering peace throughout the region and the wider world.

During the discussions, the Prime Minister conveyed his deep respect for Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, and President Masoud Pazeshkian. He acknowledged the significant role Iran plays in promoting solidarity within the Muslim world.

Highlighting the common challenges faced by both states, Prime Minister Sharif noted that Pakistan and Iran have both been victims of terrorism. He stressed a shared resolve to continue working together for tranquility, prosperity, and constructive cooperation across the region.

The Prime Minister also expressed Pakistan’s keen interest in augmenting collaboration with Iran in mutually beneficial areas, with a particular focus on economic development and strengthening bilateral trade.

Dr. Ghalibaf conveyed warm greetings from President Masoud Pazeshkian. He praised Pakistan’s stance during the 12-day confrontation with Israel, describing it as a testament to the true brotherhood and solidarity between the two nations.

The Iranian Speaker also commended the positive legislative engagement between the two parliaments, offering special thanks to National Assembly Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq for his contributions to bolstering bilateral cooperation. Reaffirming his country’s dedication to broadening economic and commercial ties, Dr. Ghalibaf also thanked the Pakistani government for its warm hospitality.

The meeting was also attended by Speaker National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq and Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Foreign Affairs Syed Tariq Fatemi.
