Islamabad, December 09, 2020 (PPI-OT): Ambassador of Japan to Pakistan Excellency Kuninori Matsuda called on Mr. Raoof Hassan, Special Assistance to the Prime Minister on Information and Broadcasting, on Wednesday, December 9, 2020 at the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting. They discussed matters relating to mutual cooperation between the two countries. Bilateral relations between Pakistan and Japan and the history of mutual cooperation in promotion of culture and tourism, trade and investment between the two countries came under discussion during the meeting.

More specifically, avenues regarding promotion of relations in the fields of media, culture and tourism and training of personnel of media organizations were discussed. SAPM Raoof Hassan appreciated the cooperation of Japan with Pakistan in different fields especially in health, education, culture and tourism. Mutual cooperation and understanding between the media organizations of the two countries to promote culture of Japan and Pakistan was discussed.

They also discussed the cooperation between state-owned media organizations of the two countries. Ambassador Matsuda highlighted the importance of media and its deep effects on the society. SAPM Raoof Hassan cited that enormous opportunities existed for expanding mutual cooperation between the two countries in the fields of media, culture and tourism.

Ambassador Matsuda made an offer to extend support to PTV and PBC for broadening and improving the quality of their programmes. Representatives of PTV and PBC explained to the Ambassador the areas where support and assistance was specifically solicited. Director General, Pakistan Broadcasting Cooperation and Director, Pakistan Television Corporation were also present in the meeting. There will be a follow-up meeting between representatives of the Ministry, PTV and PBC with the Embassy to take the matter further.
