LARKANA: Rejecting the results of local bodies elections held by the Election Commission of Pakistan in Karachi, a protest rally was taken out from Bandar Road on Tuesday on the call of the Jamaat Islami (JI) center.

The participants, after marching through various roads, culminated at Jinnah Bagh where they staged a sin-in and shouted slogans. On this occasion, JI leaders Provincial General Secretary Kashif Saeed Sheikh, District Amir Abu Zubair Jakhro, Abdul Waheed Sandilo, Abdul Hameed, Abbas Dahani and others said that on January 15, ECP held local bodies elections in Karachi as part of the second phase of municipal elections, in which a large number of UC chairmen of Jamaat Islami were successful.

They said that under a conspiracy, the mandate of Jamaat-e-Islami was rigged and the results of the elections were released late, while under form 11 and 12, more than 84 candidates of Jamaat-e-Islami had been successful while in other UCs, the Sindh government had cheated through ROs and DROs, which we strongly condemn.

They demanded that after the success of Jamaat-e-Islami in the municipal elections of Karachi, all the results of the UC chairmen should be released and action should be taken against the Sindh government, ROs and DROs involved in the fraud.
