LARKANA: Journalists, writers, civil society for Truth, peace and justice took out a large rally from Jinnah bagh here on Monday which after marching through various major roads reached in front of DIGP office where they were received by various leaders of nationalist, social welfare, political and non-political activists and religious leaders.
They were demanding justice with the blood of Prof. Ajmal Sawand who was gunned down a few days ago in Kandhkot under the guise of tribal fights. The participants were led by Zulfiqar Khaskheli, president of the JWC. The protesters staged sit-in and also held a protest while shouting slogans in favour of their just demand.
Addressing the sit-in, the leaders said that Sindh is the land of Sufis and Saints, and the consciousness of Sindh is being massacred by pushing this holy land into the grip of tribal strife which we strongly condemn because few miscreants who can be counted on the fingers are openly challenging the state with weapons under the guise of terrorism, but no effective action has been taken so far to bring them to justice.
They said that the police have lodged an FIR on the murder of Ajmal Sawand, while the heirs are still awaiting justice and for justice with the blood of the martyr, JWC and other organizations have come out on the streets since the first day. There have been protests but no progress has been made so far which is highly astonishing.
The protesters supported the just demand of martyr Prof Ajmal Sawand's relatives, to constitute a judicial inquiry of the incident to bring out real facts and causes behind the barbaric and tragic incident so that no more Ajmal Sawand is brutally killed due to tribal disputes. Meanwhile, after the sit-in, a delegation of journalists, writers, civil society for truth, peace and justice (JWC) submitted a memorandum to the office of the DIGP, demanding constitution of a judicial inquiry to find the truth so that justice should be provided to the relatives of Prof Sanwand's family and measures should be also taken to prevent such incidents in the future.
