A woman from Kalat on Monday alleged that her brother was murdered three months ago and her niece was abducted on March 19, urging authorities to arrest the suspects and recover the missing girl safely.
At a press conference held at the Quetta Press Club, Rukhsana Aziz, accompanied by her mother Shah Bibi and other relatives, said her brother, Abdul Sattar Nichari, had been ‘brutally killed’ three months earlier, while her niece, Laiba Sattar, had been abducted by unidentified men on March 19.
She claimed that a letter had been received at their home, purportedly in the name of a proscribed organisation, stating that Laiba was in its custody. However, she said that when security forces were approached for verification, they informed the family that the girl was not with any banned outfit but had instead been abducted by a man identified as Abdul Salam.
According to Rukhsana Aziz, Abdul Salam had earlier proposed marriage to the family, which was rejected. She alleged that following the rejection, he killed her brother and later abducted Laiba on March 19.
She said that after public protests, police in Kalat registered a First Information Report (FIR) and assured the arrest of Abdul Salam and his brother Muhammad Tayyab. However, she added that despite the passage of three months, both suspects remained at large.
Aziz further alleged that Abdul Salam is serving in the police department and claimed that Laiba remains in his custody. She appealed to authorities to ensure the arrest of those responsible for her brother’s killing and the safe recovery of her niece.
Shah Bibi, the mother of the slain Abdul Sattar Nichari, said during the press conference: ‘If my son’s killers are not arrested, I will set myself on fire.’
