Under the leadership of Chief Minister Punjab, a significant step has been taken to enhance passenger safety with the installation of the “CM Punjab Panic Button” in Rawalpindi’s public transport vehicles starting today under the Safe Punjab Vision.
According to CTO Rawalpindi’s instructions, circle in-charges are actively ensuring the placement of these emergency buttons in buses, wagons, and rickshaws. This initiative promises a rapid response system, allowing passengers to directly contact police and Safe City in an emergency, and immediately send live location and vehicle information to authorities.
Rawalpindi Police, in collaboration with Punjab Safe Cities Authority, are prepared to swiftly act on the information provided through this system. This QR panic button system is particularly crucial for the safety of women, students, and daily commuters, according to CTO Farhan Aslam.
Access to these panic buttons has been made easier for the public through the Public Safety App and Safe City website, allowing citizens to obtain them without leaving their homes. Additionally, efforts are ongoing to educate the public about the use and benefits of this technology.
This technological advancement, supported by Rawalpindi Traffic Police and Punjab Safe City Authority, is transforming public transport into a modern digital safety network. Its aim is not only to strengthen citizen safety and crime prevention but also to facilitate accident investigations.
CTO Farhan Aslam emphasized that these technology-based measures will significantly improve traffic discipline and urban safety, providing the public with safe, reliable travel facilities.
