A comprehensive review of the province’s security and law enforcement system was conducted on Wednesday in an important video meeting chaired by Inspector General (IG) Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar. The meeting focused on the fight against terrorism, management of civil unrest, and accelerating the expulsion of illegally residing foreigners in the province.
Key instructions were issued to maintain law and order across Punjab, with an emphasis on vigilance against terrorist threats and subversive forces. The IG stressed the importance of a zero-tolerance policy regarding the enforcement of smog laws, compliance with traffic rules, and the Loudspeaker Act. These measures are in line with Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz’s vision to transform Punjab into a safe and peaceful province.
The province is moving towards a Safe Cities system through a systematic transformation, aiming to enhance public safety with modern surveillance and monitoring technology. This initiative is complemented by mobile police stations and licensing units, designed to provide essential services to citizens and women in remote areas.
The meeting was attended by senior law enforcement officers, including Additional IGs, DIGs, RPOs, and DPOs, reflecting a concerted effort to uphold law and order. This development signifies a robust response to the evolving security challenges facing Punjab, highlighting the administration’s commitment to stability and public safety.
