Legacy Of Zakir Ali Khan Honoured As SSUET Awards Top Graduates

Sir Syed University of Engineering and Technology (SSUET), in partnership with the Zakir Ali Khan Foundation, commemorated the death anniversary of Engr. Muhammad Zakir Ali Khan in a ceremony that also recognised the university’s top-performing students with new laptops.

The event served as a tribute to the celebrated author, educationist, and sportsman, acknowledging the significant contributions he made to society throughout his life. Engr. Muhammad Zakir Ali Khan was remembered as a distinguished figure in sports, a revered academic, and a celebrated writer of Urdu fiction, according to the university information today.

Speaking at the ceremony, SSUET Chancellor Muhammad Akbar Ali Khan described Zakir Ali Khan as a multifaceted individual whose life exemplified determination and passion. He noted that the promotion of education, the development of sports, and humanitarian service were central missions to which Zakir Ali Khan dedicated his life, highlighting his pivotal role in establishing the KMC Sports Complex.

Mrs. Erum Akbar Ali Khan, Chairperson of the Zakir Ali Khan Foundation, spoke on his profound literary contributions, which she said have significantly enriched the nation”s cultural heritage. She remarked that his stories captured the essence of the human experience and that he was honoured with the first Sir Syed Ahmed Khan International Award for Literature by Aligarh Muslim University for his exceptional work.

Associates and senior Aligs in attendance reflected on his achievements, urging others to embrace the values he championed, including perseverance, integrity, and a commitment to the betterment of society. They emphasised a collective responsibility to carry forward his heritage by fostering sportsmanship and encouraging educational and artistic pursuits.

Concluding the event, the Zakir Ali Khan Foundation distributed laptops to the highest-achieving graduates from the university”s engineering programmes. The recipients, who all secured the first position in their respective disciplines, were Sarim Mashood, Mubashirah Shaikh, Immad Uddin Ali Khan, Narmeen Pervez, Hassan Abdullah, and Syed Izhan Raza.

The proceedings were conducted by Registrar Cdre. (r) Syed Sarfraz Ali, SI (M) and Dr. Kashif Shaikh and were attended by numerous esteemed academics and dignitaries.
