Load shedding: Enraged protesters ransack Sibi power grid

On the call of Sibi Ittehad, load shedding-stricken people took to the streets and vandalised a power grid station in Sibi area of Balochistan province on Thursday.

Dozens of enraged protesters reached the power grid station and stage a protest demonstration against prolonged and unannounced load shedding in Sibi.

Chanting slogans against the authorities of Quetta Electric Supply Company (QESCO), the protesters broke into grid station after demolishing its main gate and started ransacking the office.

Talking to media, the leaders said that 21 hours load shedding was being carried out in rural areas on daily basis while in urban areas, its duration was 14 hours. They said that scorching heat had taken the lives of four people in Sibi, but the government did not care.

Later, the protesters dispersed peacefully after the authorities assured them of taking up the issue with QESCO.
