Karachi, January 24, 2018 (PPI-OT):Mayor Karachi Wasim Akhtar has directed concerned officers to expedite the computerization and I.T infrastructure establishment in KMC along with complete digitization of land archives record and permanent coordination between the departments through I.T Cell. This would help streamline the I.T related works and make it more transparent and accessible. He said this while chairing a meeting on the process of computerization and establishment of infrastructure for I.T in KMC which was attended by the senior director of I.T Department S. M Taha, I.T Consultant Daniyal Ahmed, senior director coordination Masood Alam, director technical to Mayor Karachi S.M Shakaib, director finance Mohammad Ashraf and other officers of I.T department.
A detailed presentation on various functions of I.T Department including the setting up of IT infrastructure in KMC building, development of KMC Website/Web-Portal and its maintenance, procurement of hardware, software and peripherals, etc., preparation of IT Development proposals / Projects, coordination of IT activities in KMC, conduct Computer training for the KMC Officers/Officials, establishment of MIS Department for securing the information and centralizing departmental connectivity in KMC, setting up networking environment among all departments of KMC, development of Web-based Applications and Database for Public access, analysis, Design and Software Development of KMC Departments, development, installation and updating the operation of hardware in all departments, Data entry and processing for various applications /databases and payroll and personnel Information Management System were discussed and reviewed the meeting.
The development projects presently under taken by the department the Citizen Complaint and Information System (CCIS), Computerization in KMC (LAN WAN and Wi-Fi), Digital Archiving of Land Record and Rehabilitation of Electrical wiring in KMC Building whereas the District ADP Projects includes Digital Archiving of Land Record Solution of KMC, Consultancy Service for Development and Implementation of IFMIS, F and A, KMC, Up-Gradation of IT Infrastructure (Hardware) for IFMIS of F and A, KMC, Refurbishment of F and A Department, KMC for One Window Operation and Data Center/Front-End Lab Infrastructure Up-gradation / Expansion of F and A.
I.T Department Achieved the task of Council Taken Up the By-Laws of IT Department and the same has been sent to Government of Sindh after the Resolution passed by the KMC Council for its approval, Two PC-I has been framed one for the Wi-Fi and other for Land Management and tenders have been invited which are to be opened on 25th January 2018, Maintenance of Computers of all departments of KMC for which 30 complains were received out of which 24 were attended and made in order and issuance of 3000 Computerized Employment Cards after recommendation by the Human Resource Department, KMC whereas its future plans includes the computerization of All KMC Hospitals on the pattern of Abbasi Shaheed Hospital, according to HMIS, Digital Archiving of Land Records KMC, KMC Video Conferencing System and the establishment of Disaster Recovery System for IT Integrated Financial Management Information System (ERP Software Implementation) Funded By World Bank.
