An important meeting, chaired by Sindh Senior Minister and Provincial Minister for Information, Transport and Mass Transit Sharjeel Inam Memon, was held today to review the progress of the Red Line Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) project. The meeting discussed in detail the ongoing construction work, progress at various stages, technical and administrative challenges, and the future course of action.
The meeting was attended by Secretary Transport Asad Zamin, CEO of Trans Karachi Zubair Channa, project consultants, engineers, and other relevant officials. During the meeting, officials gave Senior Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon a comprehensive briefing on the overall progress of the project, including various construction packages, utility shifting, the construction of BRT stations, the depot, infrastructure development, and other key issues. They also informed him about the pace of work on different sections of the project, the targets set, the implementation timeline, and the upcoming phases.
Speaking at the meeting, Memon said that the Red Line BRT was a vital public welfare project aimed at improving the transport system and providing greater convenience to the people of Karachi. He directed officials to further accelerate all ongoing construction work to ensure the project was completed within the stipulated timeframe. He also instructed them to take effective and practical measures to complete each phase according to the approved schedule and timeline.
Memon further emphasised that any technical or administrative obstacles delaying the project’s completion should be removed without delay. He called for stronger communication, improved coordination, and closer cooperation among all relevant institutions to ensure timely completion. He directed officials to utilise all available resources to complete the Red Line BRT project with the highest standards of quality and transparency, in line with the established objectives, so that the people of Karachi could benefit from a modern, safe, and efficient public transport system at the earliest.
