LAYYAH:At least 8150 files were stolen from the record room of Assistant Commissioner (AC) office in Layyah on Sunday.

Action has been initiated against five officials including in-charge Domicile Branch Muhammad Azam, two watchmen, deputy messenger and other employees have also been transferred.

All the stolen files are related to Domicile branch. The city police refused to register a case after the public servants were named in the prosecution saying that the matter should be referred to the anti-corruption department.

Later, the Deputy Commissioner appointed GAR Saifur Rehman as the inquiry officer in the matter.
