NAHE Pledges International Training, New Programmes for University Leadership

The National Academy of Higher Education (NAHE) today announced plans for future international training opportunities for university staff and a new specialised programme for Heads of Departments, following the conclusion of two national outreach initiatives at the University of the Punjab.

The announcement was made during a joint closing ceremony for the National Outreach Programme for Faculty (NOPF) and the National Outreach Programme for Management (NOPM), held at the university”s Institute of Administrative Sciences.

Dr Noor Amna Malik, Managing Director of the Higher Education Commission’s NAHE, revealed the future plans while addressing the attendees. She encouraged participants to apply their learning within their respective departments and act as ambassadors for professional development. Emphasising the importance of cascading knowledge, she urged them to transfer their acquired skills to their workplaces.

During an interactive session, which participants described as highly engaging, Dr Malik also expressed her admiration for the university leadership and the successful execution of the training schemes.

In his address, Punjab University Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Muhammad Ali described the programmes as an unmatched opportunity for staff to realise and utilise their full potential. He stressed the importance of a positive mindset and continuous learning, referencing the Sufi principles of equality and mutual respect as values to be embodied in professional life.

Dr Ali commended the efforts of Training Coordinator Dr Sania Malik for successfully organising the events and congratulated the participants on their achievement.

Dr Sania Malik provided an overview of both programmes, outlining their scope and outcomes. She acknowledged a generous grant of PKR 3.9 million from NAHE that facilitated the initiatives and noted that the attendees were highly appreciated by all resource persons, reflecting the university”s strong human capital.

Dr Amjad Magsi, President of the Academic Staff Association, highlighted the significant role participants could now play in fostering positive transformation within the institution.

The ceremony, which was also attended by senior faculty and administrative officials including Dean Faculty of Health Sciences Prof Dr Rehan Sheikh and Director ORIC Dr Aqil Inam, concluded with the distribution of certificates.
