QUETTA: Eight drug peddlers were shot dead besides seizing cache of arms, ammunition and large quantity of drugs during a joint operation conducted in the wee hours of Wednesday by Police and CTD in city nala near Jinnah road area of Quetta city.
This was informed by Captain (Retd) Ghulam Azfar Mahesar while addressing a pressing conference. He said time and again drug peddlers and addicts had been warned to vacate city nala, but they paid no heed to the warning, adding that when staff of Police and Counter Terrorism Department launched operation, drug peddler resorted to firing, compelling police to retaliate.
He said that eight drug peddlers were killed during the joint operation conducted by police and CTD besides, seizing cache of arms, ammunition and large quantity of drugs. He said police pickets would be set up in different areas of the city nala by deploying police to perform 24 hours duty. He said that money earned from drugs was always being used for terrorism, adding that abettors of drug peddlers had been identified and soon legal action against them would be taken.
