National Dredging and Marine Services Company established to save significant foreign exchange

Pakistan has taken a significant step towards strengthening its maritime infrastructure by establishing the National Dredging and Marine Services (NDMS) Company, a move aimed at reducing dependence on foreign expertise in dredging operations.

This strategic development is a joint effort of the National Logistics Corporation, Karachi Port Trust (KPT), Port Qasim Authority, and Gwadar Port Authority. By promoting local dredging expertise, the move is expected to reduce dependence on international firms, resulting in significant foreign exchange savings for the country.

The establishment of NDMS is anticipated to streamline operations at Port Qasim, ensuring that maritime transport remains efficient and uninterrupted. This enhancement in operational capacity is vital for sustaining the port”s full functionality and contributing to the overall improvement of Pakistan”s maritime logistics framework.

The focus on developing indigenous dredging capabilities is seen as a pivotal move for the nation, promising not only economic savings but also a boost in local technological expertise in the marine services sector.
