The Balochistan government is establishing a new Center of Excellence to counter “baseless propaganda” against the state, which it links to social unrest and violence. The initiative aims to guide the region’s youth by promoting a positive narrative through research and awareness campaigns.
The matter was discussed in a high-level meeting chaired by Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti on Wednesday. Key participants included the province’s Chief Secretary, Additional Chief Secretary Home, and the Inspector General of Police.
Chief Minister Bugti said that to counter the effects of such propaganda, it is necessary to provide guidance to the youth in the right direction and to inform them of the facts.
He said that the Center of Excellence will prove to be an effective platform for research, awareness, and counter-violence, while a positive narrative will be promoted through educational institutions and social media.
During the meeting, the Chief Minister also clarified that the recent merger of the Levies force into the police has made uniform law enforcement possible in Balochistan.
Mr. Bugti concluded that this merger clarifies state responsibilities and will further strengthen the scope of public safety.
