In an effort to ensure security during the important processions of Muharram, authorities have announced the closure of M.A. Jinnah Road from Gurumandir to Tower for the passage of general vehicles on the 9th and 10th of the Islamic month. This measure is taken to facilitate the safe movement of the main procession, which will proceed from Nishtar Park to Husainia Iranian Imambargah, passing through several key areas such as Capri Light Signal, Saddar Dawakhana, and Tibet Chowk.
Alternative routes have been designated for different districts to minimize the traffic disruptions. In District Central, commuters can use the routes from Lasbela Chowk to Nishtar Road, while it is specifically noted that the road from Liaquatabad to Gurumandir will be inaccessible on 9th Muharram from 8:30 AM to 9:30 AM. Those coming from Hasan Square are advised to head towards Kashmir Road or Lasbela Chowk.
In District East, vehicles on Shahrah-e-Faisal are suggested to head towards Kashmir Road, while those going from Central Jail to Gurumandir should take the alternative route via Bahadur Yar Jang Road. This route will also remain closed on 9th Muharram from 10:30 AM to 1:30 PM.
For District South, traffic coming from Garden Zoo can turn towards Gul Plaza or left towards Coastal Guard by taking a turn from Uncle Surya.
Instructions have been given for heavy and commercial vehicles, according to which the traffic from Super Highway and Gulberg will be routed through Nazimabad Chowrangi 2 via the Habib Bank Flyover. Those entering the city are directed to use Shahrah-e-Faisal and other important roads such as Rashid Minhas Road, Stadium Road, and Hasan Square.
Special arrangements have been made for the vehicles included in Niaz and Sabeel, which will only be given access from Saddar Dawakhana and Capri Light Signal, provided they have an official sticker on their windshield.
Strict parking restrictions have been imposed throughout the route of the procession, which is part of the additional security measures planned for this event.
